Curriculum Plans & Overview
Due to small cohort sizes and mixed-age classes, curriculum planning for Science, PE, Computing, history, geography and other foundation subjects are taught on a rolling programme. This cycle will continue on a rolling basis until cohort sizes increase. PSHRE is taught in all areas of the curriculum as detailed in the PSHRE overview term on term, through assemblies and specific focus days/weeks.

Reading and Phonics
At New Brancepeth Primary Academy we firmly believe that good phonics teaching is at the heart of successful early reading and writing experiences. We have undertaken substantial investment in terms of staff training in order to ensure all staff have a thorough understanding of the role synthetic phonics plays in teaching children to read and write and work closely with the English Hub.
